JAMMU, Jan 29: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation seeking attachment of property of Dutta Finance Company and others for cheating of people to the tune of Rs 50 crore, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today directed the Crime Branch to file status report within two weeks failing which SSP Crime Branch shall remain present in person on next date of hearing.
After hearing Senior Advocate SS Lehar with Advocate Meharban Singh for the petitioners and Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, DB observed that the earlier orders passed by this court have not been complied with by filing the status report with regard to investigation done by Crime Branch.
Upon this, Senior AAG Gagan Basotra sought some further time to do the needful. While considering the submission of Senior AAG, the DB directed that Crime Branch shall file status report within two weeks failing which the then SSP Crime Branch Jammu shall remain present in person on the next date of hearing.
