DB directs Director SVO to file latest status report in Roshni Scam

JAMMU, Aug 27: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding land grabbing, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed Director State Vigilance Organization to file latest report in multi-crore Roshni scam.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed, “it appears from order dated June 10, 2014 that Director of Vigilance could not complete his investigation as the relevant records were not handed over to him by Deputy Commissioners of Udhampur, Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama districts”.
Counsel for the applicant stated that he was not aware as to whether the report has been submitted by Deputy Commissioners of these districts or not, although in order dated July 14, 2014 also, a specific direction was given to Deputy Commissioners of these districts.
Upon this, Division Bench directed Senior AAG Gagan Basotra to get the latest status report from Director of Vigilance and place the same on record before the next date of hearing.
In another application seeking compensation to Gole Gujral oustees, AAG HS Siddiqui sought two weeks time to place on record the latest status report of the committee and the same was granted by the Division Bench.
Advocate Rahul Raina vice Advocate SS Ahmed appeared for the PIL whereas AAG HA Siddiqui appeared for the State, Senior Advocate DC Raina with Advocate Arun Kumar, Advocates SC Gupta, PN Bhat, Sindhu Sharma SK Anand, SS Andotra, SS Nanda and RS Jamwal for the applicants.
