JAMMU, Mar 25: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar today directed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to file status report on completion of ongoing sewerage work in Jammu city.
The direction was passed in a PIL filed by two Advocates namely Ashish Sharma and Deepak Singh Balouria against unplanned digging and frequent traffic jams in Jammu. The petitioners have submitted that the entire process of digging of roads was so mis-managed that the same are left dug up for months together with either little or no progress. Not only this, the roads where sewerage pipes had been laid, the agencies responsible for metalling the same were absolutely callous in discharging duty.
After hearing Advocate Abhinav Sharma and Advocate Meenakshi Salathia, Division Bench observed, “the earlier directions issued by Court have not been fully complied with, although some status report have been filed by Divisional Commissioner, NBCC and Jammu Municipal Corporation”.
“The advocates supporting the cause of public interest have stated that the progress is very poor and the quality of work is not up to the mark because black toping done in many areas has already been washed”, the DB said and directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu to file the latest status report disclosing how much time would be taken to complete the work concerning sewerage and the macadamization in view of the earlier directions issued by this Court.
