DB directs Divisional Commissioners to submit action taken report

JAMMU, Aug 5; In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Parimoksh Seth highlighting slaughtering and sale of bovine, which is rampant in some parts of the State in connivance with the authorities, who are otherwise supposed to check this practice, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today issued notice to Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Home and Director General of Police returnable within six weeks.
While issuing notices, Division Bench directed Divisional Commissioner Jammu province as also Kashmir Province to submit a report by or before the next date of hearing indicating the steps that have been taken with a view to prevent either slaughtering or sale of such slaughtered animals in various areas falling under their jurisdiction.
The DB  further directed Divisional Commissioners to obtain inputs from Inspector General of Police Jammu as well as Kashmir range, to find out as to whether the activities of slaughtering of bovine animals and their sale is being undertaken as commercial level on regular basis. “If so, what steps have been taken with a view to bring the guilty to book”, the DB directed.
