JAMMU, Aug 12: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Vasu Dubey regarding violation of Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 read with various provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed District Magistrate to file status report or appear in person.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, it was brought to notice of Division Bench by the Government Advocate that SSP Jammu has filed his compliance report in the registry. On this, Division Bench directed Registry to tag the report with PIL.
Division Bench took serious note that District Magistrate has not filed the status report and granted one week’s time to District Magistrate for filing his status report in compliance to the order dated July 8, 2014 and exempted him for appearing in person for today. The DB made it clear that in case the compliance report is not filed he shall cause his presence in person.
