DB disposes of PIL against BSNL

JAMMU, Sept 21: Division Bench of State High Court today disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Saleema Jaffer and others seeking directions to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to rectify its service and keeping the payment of bills in abeyance till then.
General Manager, Mobile Service of BSNL, who was present in person before the Court, submitted that BSNL intends to purchase BTS and other connecting equipment for providing better services to the satisfaction of its subscribers.
After hearing Advocate Rozina Afzal appearing for the PIL, Division Bench comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar said, “since BSNL is taking all effective steps to improve its services, the PIL is disposed of with the directions to the BSNL to ensure best service to its subscribers”, adding “so far as other relief is concerned, the petitioner shall be at liberty to approach the appropriate forum”.
