DB disposes of PIL regarding construction GDC Marheen

JAMMU, Oct 25: A Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Rajesh Sekhri has disposed of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding establishment and construction of Govt Degree College, Marheen in Kathua.
“Respondents have filed objections mentioning that Government has already taken necessary steps for transfer of land situated at village Ladwal Andhar for establishment/construction of Govt Degree College at Marheen”, DB observed, adding “as per the respondents the revenue papers were prepared and submitted to the Director Colleges Higher Education Department, J&K Jammu for authentication and furnishing of proper indent”.
“The Director Colleges has returned the papers after authentication and proper indent placed vide his office No. DC/HE/INDENT/2019 dated 14.11.2019 for transfer of the State land measuring 197 kanal 19 marlas situated at village Ladwal Andhar”, the DB observed, adding “the matter was taken up with the Govt for transfer of State land in favour of Higher Education Department and Revenue Department has raised some observations”.
“Accordingly, observations were removed and finally land measuring 151 kanals 05 marlas situated at village Ladwal Andher has been transferred in favour of Higher Education Department for establishment/ construction of Govt Degree College at Marheen”, the DB said, adding “we are of the view that nothing survives in the present PIL for further consideration, inasmuch as, the authorities are going to construct Government Degree College in village Ladwal Andhar”.
With these observations, Division Bench closed the PIL.
