JAMMU, Jan 1: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice J P Singh and Justice Hasnain Massodi has disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Pawan Kumar Manni, former general secretary of Bar Association Jammu, seeking appointment of translators in the State High Court.
When the PIL came up for hearing, Senior AAG Gagan Basotra informed the Court that State Government on December 27, 2012 sanctioned seven posts of translators (Urdu to English) for the High Court.
After hearing Advocates Vikram Sharma, Monish Chopra and Ashish Sharma for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, Division Bench observed, “with the issuance of the Government order for creation of the posts all that now needs to be done is to prescribe requisite qualification and mode for recruitment against the sanctioned posts in terms of the Rules 6 of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Staff (Conditions of Service) Rules 1968”.
