JAMMU, Nov 28: In a petition filed by Advocate Ankur Sharma seeking registration of FIR against Cabinet Minister Abdul Gani Kohli and others for encroaching upon 10 kanals of forest land at Nowabad Sunjwan, Division Bench of the State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today granted two weeks time to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu for filing objections.
When the matter came up for hearing, petitioner-in-person Advocate Ankur Sharma brought the attention of Division Bench towards the status report filed by State Vigilance Organization on 29.07.2016. Quoting from the report, he submitted that the enquiries conducted so far have established that Khasra Number 356 of village Nowabad Sunjwan on which the institutions and other infrastructure owned and managed by Abdul Gani Kohli have been constructed is a forest land.
“The Vigilance Organiz-ation has lamented the role played by DC Jammu vis-à-vis joint demarcation to be conducted on the land occupied by the Minister”, he submitted.
