DB grants 2 weeks time for filing response

JAMMU, Apr 6: In Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking declaration of Jammu and Kashmir State Lands (Vesting of Ownership to the Occupants) Act as unconstitutional/illegal for being ultra-vires the Constitution of India and the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today granted two weeks time to the State for filing response.
After hearing petitioner Ankur Sharma in person, DB directed Revenue Department to file response within two weeks.
However, in the application filed by Ankur Sharma seeking directions to the respondents for ensuring the fencing and mapping of the State lands along with computerization/digitization of the land records, Division Bench issued notice to Chief Secretary, Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners returnable within two weeks.
