DB grants 4 days for filing status report

JAMMU, Sept 4: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by retired IGP turned politician Farooq Khan seeking directions to State for providing adequate facilities to the persons displaced due to recent firing from across the border, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Tashi Rabstan today granted four days time to the State for filing status report and directed the Registry to list the PIL on September 8.
When the matter was taken-up for consideration, Senior Additional Advocate General stated that pursuant to last order, Chief Secretary has constituted a team of officers headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu to visit the areas and submit its report to Government.
Mr Basotra further submitted that he has received copy of status report from Divisional Commissioner Jammu/Deputy Commissioner Samba and before placing it on record he wants to go through the same. Accordingly, he requested for taking-up the instant petition on next week.
After hearing Senior Advocate MK Bhardwaj and Advocate Veenu Gupta for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State, DB granted four days time to file status report.
In the earlier order, Division Bench had directed Director Health services Jammu to provide medical care to firing victims without any waste of time. Even the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu and Samba were directed to provide proper food and lodging to the firing victims.
