DB grants final opportunity to Secy Edu Ladakh for filing latest status report

JAMMU, Feb 28: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) pertaining to improvement of infrastructure facilities in respect of primary and secondary schools in urban and rural areas of the Union Territory of  Jammu & Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh as well as for proper maintenance of students-teachers ratio, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice MA Chowdhary took serious note of non-filing of status report and granted last and final opportunity to Secretary, School Education Department of UT of Ladakh failing which he shall remain present in person on the next date of hearing.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed, “despite several opportunities, latest affidavit in terms of orders dated 12.08.2024 has not been filed on behalf of the UT of Ladakh. The DSGI Vishal Sharma has stated that he has time and again informed the UT of Ladakh but UT is not coming forward”.
Upon this, Division Bench granted last and final opportunity for filing latest affidavit in terms of an order dated 12.08.2024 on behalf of the UT of Ladakh, failing which, Secretary, School Education Department, UT of Ladakh shall remain present in person on the next date of hearing.
