JAMMU, July 25: In the much publicized PIL highlighting the inaction on the part of the State in implementing the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010, Division Bench of State High Court has granted last opportunity to the Revenue Secretary for filing response.
In this PIL, the DB had earlier stayed the sale and construction in the areas of water body and sale of land concerning the bed of the river and the land recorded in the revenue records as Khad. When the PIL came up for hearing, AAG Ehsan Mirza appearing for the State sought one more opportunity to file response.
While giving time to file response, DB made it clear that in case comprehensive reply is not filed by the Commissioner Secretary Revenue, cost shall be imposed on the next date of hearing.
