DB grants time for action against illegally erected mobile towers

JAMMU, Apr 3: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a law student Navyug Sethi, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Tashi Rabstan today granted four weeks time to the Union of India for filing status report with regard to the omission levels in respect of illegally erected mobile towers.
During the course of hearing Advocate Sachin Gupta appearing for the Jammu Municipal Corporation submitted that the Corporation has already identified 360 mobile towers which have been erected illegally without obtaining permission from the Jammu Municipal Corporation. “Moreover, Jammu Muncipal Corporation has already issued notices to 60 persons on whose house such mobile towers have been erected illegal as such time be granted to take suitable action against remaining towers”, he added.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Summit Nayyar for the PIL, DB granted four weeks time for taking suitable action in respect of remaining mobile towers which have been erected illegally.
