JAMMU, Feb 27: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Jagdev Singh seeking setting-up of J&K Minority Commission, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar issued notice to Chief Secretary, Secretary Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and Secretary Social Welfare Department returnable within four weeks.
The setting up of J&K Minority Commission is being sought to evaluate the safe-guards of Sikhs, Christians, Jains and Buddhists and protection of interests as enshrined in Article 29 of the Constitution of India on the pattern of such act framed by states of Bihar, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.
