DB issues notice to CS, others on poor condition of roads

JAMMU, July 13: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding dilapidated condition of roads in Jammu and Kashmir, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today directed the Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary PWD, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu/Kashmir, Commissioners of JMC/SMC and Commissioner Secretary PHE to file response within four weeks.
In the PIL filed by Advocate Jasvinder Singh, it has been submitted that roads in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir including rural areas are mostly in dilapidated condition. “There are pothole and ditches which are not properly leveled and surfaced. Moreover, no foot ways and foot path exist and wherever they exist they are in poor condition and encroached upon”, the petitioner said.
Advocate Parveen Kapahi appeared for the PIL whereas Senior AAGs Seema Shekhar and SS Nanda appeared for the State.
