JAMMU, June 7: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by two practicing advocates Sidharth Anand and Bhavishya Sudan, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Sanjay Gupta today issued notices to all the cinema hall owners of the State.
Advocate Aditya sharma appearing on behalf of the petitioners submitted that the Cinema Rules which had been framed by the legislature, had not been implemented in letter and spirit by the cinema halls of the State.
“It is the duty of District Magistrate to regulate and implement the rules and provisions. As per the Cinema Rules there has to be uniformity of ticket prices of all shows in the State where as in Jammu city cinema hall owners are charging the money for ticket at their own free will”, he submitted, adding “moreover, restrictions have also been imposed by the owners of cinema halls on taking outside eatables inside the cinema halls”.
After hearing Advocate Aditya Sharma, the Division Bench issued notices to the cinema hall owners as well as the District Magistrate Jammu.
