DB issues notices to UoI, others

JAMMU, Apr 30: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by one Muzaffar Hussain Bhat seeking establishment of Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Kendra in J&K, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice Tashi Rabstan today issued notices to Directors of Health Services, Principals of GMC Srinagar and Jammu, Medical Superintendents SMHS Hospital and Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital Jammu, Union Health Ministry, Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers as also State through Principal Secretary Health and Bureau of Pharma, a Public Sector Undertaking of the Government of India.
All these respondents have been directed to file response before June 3, 2019.
In the PIL, it has been submitted that the scheme aims at making quality medicines available at affordable prices for all, particularly the poor and disadvantaged, through exclusive outlets- Jan Aushadhi Medical Stores- so as to reduce out-of-pocket expenses in healthcare.
