JAMMU, Apr 23: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding illegal constructions being carried out around Railway Station Katra, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal today directed Senior AAG SS Nanda to inform the court about the total number of cases pertaining to the illegal constructions pending before the Jammu and Kashmir Special Tribunal and the time frame within which the Tribunal proposes to dispose them.
The DB further directed Senior AAG to inform about the action taken against the unauthorised constructions on the agricultural land.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed, “it has come on record that against the action taken against the encroachers for the removal of unauthorized constructions proceedings were initiated before the Jammu and Kashmir Special Tribunal where the matters are sub-judice”, adding “it has also come on record that there are about 71 encroachers on the agricultural land”.
“Senior AAG S S Nanda placed reliance upon status report dated 01.09.2020 but we do not find anything from the report except for a list appended to it disclosing the matters pending before the Jammu and Kashmir Special Tribunal”, the DB said.
