Dilapidated condition of Munsiff Court

JAMMU, Aug 17:- In a significant order, a Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul has sought the personal appearance of Commissioner Secretary, R&B Department, Chief Engineer and the Executive Engineer (R&B) Poonch in a PIL filed by Bar Association Mendhar highlighting the dilapidated condition of the Munsiff Court building.
After considering the submissions of Advocate Abrar Khan appearing for Bar Association Mendhar, the Division Bench observed, “despite repeated opportunities, the Executive Engineer (PWD) Poonch has not filed report in terms of order dated 23-07-2019”.
While expressing anguish, the DB said, “the amount stands sanctioned for the repairs to the building in 2014. Still nothing has been done. This is a serious matter and is concerned with the construction of new building for the court of Munsiff Mendhar”.
Accordingly, DB sought the personal appearance of Commissioner Secretary R&B Department, Chief Engineer and the Executive Engineer (R&B) Poonch on the next date of hearing and directed the registry to list the matter on August 20.
