DB seeks Union Health Secy objections in PIL on e-cigarettes

SRINAGAR, July 31: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by one Mushtaq Ahmed Shah seeking directions to the authorities to allow use and sale of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) or e-cigarettes, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali Dar today directed Secretary Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to file objections.
“Having regard to the nature of the issue raised before this court, it would appear that Union of India through Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, would be a necessary party for effective adjudication”, DB said.
