JAMMU, Sept 17: Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Puneet Gupta has stayed the orders of J&K Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission whereby the selection process of LPG distributors in nine locations by three oil companies was put on hold.
The advertisement notice for nine locations for LPG distributors/dealers in J&K was issued by the HPCL, BPCL and IOCL in the month of July this year. On August 10, 2021, the High Court passed the order on interim application saying that no case either for staying the advertisement notice or for reserving one location for Schedule Tribe category was made out as in the event the respondents are restrained from continuing ahead with selection process, the public at large will suffer.
On August 23, order of status-quo was passed by the Commission for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes on the representation made by one Sunil Kumar. Further, on September 1, 2021, the Commission issued notice in contempt for violating the order dated August 23.
The order of the Commission was challenged before the Division Bench through Advocate Rameshwar P Sharma and the Division Bench stayed the impugned orders of the Commission till next date of hearing subject to objections from the other side.
