JAMMU, Mar 22: Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS), Parade (Jammu), has urged the Government to confer the prestigious Bharat Ratna posthumously upon Duggar Rattan, Pt Prem Nath Dogra, in recognition of his contributions towards keeping Jammu and Kashmir united post-partition.
The demand was raised during a tribute function organized at Sabha Bhawan on his death anniversary under the chairmanship of DBPS president Ved Parkash Sharma. Representatives from various social and religious organizations across Jammu province participated in the event, which was conducted with religious and Vedic rituals.
A resolution in this regard was moved by retired DC B S Jamwal and seconded by DBPS Chairman, Advocate P C Sharma. Senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Sharma emphasized that Pt Prem Nath Dogra played a crucial role in uniting the people of J&K and spearheading the ‘Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan’ movement under the Praja Parishad banner for the full integration of J&K with India. He stated that conferring the Bharat Ratna on him would be a fitting tribute to his legacy.
The resolution was unanimously adopted by the attendees through a show of hands. The event saw the participation of several notable figures, including social workers, public representatives, literary personalities, doctors, poets, writers, and former JMC councilors.
Prominent attendees included DBPS spokesperson Subash Shastri, Pt V M Magotra, N C Sharma, M L Sharma, Satyanand Sharma, Soujanya Sharma (ex-JMC Commissioner), Jagan Nath Sharma, M L Padha, Gurdass Sharma, Shiv Ram Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Ritiz Khajuria, Davinder Sharma, Rajesh Badgotra, K L Sharma, Sat Paul Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Prem Balotra, Brita Ram and Raman Sharma.
