DB’s concern over non-serious approach

JAMMU, Dec 24: In a letter turned Public Interest Litigation filed by differently abled person (visually handicapped) practicing Advocate Suraj Singh seeking in-depth/thorough investigation in the infamous sexual exploitation of mentally challenged girls, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi today expressed concern over the non-serious approach in engaging new staff for the Rotary Inner Wheels Home at Channi Rama in compliance to the earlier directions.
When the PIL came up for hearing, Senior AAG Gagan Basotra produced a copy of letter No ADC/ADM/PS/13-14/1076 dated December 21, 2013 written by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu to the Deputy Commissioner Jammu. Through the letter, the Additional Deputy Commissioner apprised the Deputy Commissioner that as per the directions of the Division Bench all the relevant posts were advertised.
Subsequently, two teachers were  selected. However, none was selected for the post of clerk. Moreover, no application was received for the post of warden, cook, safaikaramchari and chowkidar. The two selected teachers were asked to join the school from the next day replacing the existing three teachers namely Chand Bibi, Sonu Pandita and Lalita Sharma whose names figured in the FIR No 183/2013.
However, after teaching the children for one day the newly appointed teachers refused to come and despite various efforts to convince them to join back, they have denied to serve in Rotary Inner Wheel Home.
After going through the letter, Division Bench observed, “various channels are available for supplying the candidates including employment exchange. Even within Government there are workers available who would like to join the Rotary Inner Wheel Home”.
“Let efforts be made in the right direction. Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed shall also assist in finding the suitable persons to serve the home”, the DB said and directed Registry to list the PIL on February 20, 2014.
Division Bench while parting with the case also issued notice to the President Rotary Inner Wheels, Channi Rama, Jammu who stands already arrayed as party respondent in the PIL.
