JAMMU, Aug 23: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Navyug Sethi, a law student seeking directions for shifting/relocating mobile towers from the residential areas, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice BS Walia today directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to submit compliance report of the earlier order whereby it was asked to ensure implementation of the guidelines of 2016.
Advocates Monika Kohli and Summit Nayyar appearing for PIL submitted that shifting of mobile towers from residential areas to such places which have been specifically earmarked and specified for installation of mobile towers as per the guidelines issued by the Jammu Municipal Corporation was necessary to save the people from various diseases like cancer, sleep disorders, fatigue, headache, memory loss, depression, hearing problems, joint pains, skin diseases and even cardiovascular problems which are inevitable because of radiation emitted by these towers.
