JAMMU, July 10: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by a law student Navyug Sethi seeking direction to respondents for shifting/re-locating mobile towers from the residential areas, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice BS Walia today issued notice to State and others.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, the DB also directed Jammu Municipal Corporation to implement ‘Guidelines for Installation Of Communication Towers’ 2016 and submit the compliance report.
In the PIL, it has been submitted that shifting of mobile towers from the residential areas to the specifically earmarked areas as per the guidelines issued by the Jammu Municipal Corporation is imperative so that people are saved from suffering serious diseases like cancer, sleep disorders, fatigue, headache, memory loss, depression, hearing problems, joint pains, skin diseases and even cardiovascular problems which are inevitable because of radiation emitted by these towers.
