DB’s directive to SHO Nowabad

JAMMU, Feb 18: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on child labour, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed Station House Officer of Nowabad Police Station to remain present on next date of hearing.
In the PIL, it was submitted that one Brijesh, who belongs to Utter Pradesh was forcibly engaged as child labour/domestic labour by a Jammu based businessman in violation of Child Labour Act, 1986.
In August last year, after seven months of slavery and hardship, Brijesh was rescued when his father came to meet him. After getting angry with Brijesh’s request to go home, the businessman thrashed him. After long struggle, concerned Police Station registered FIR but Brijesh was still waiting for justice.
Division Bench directed Senior AAG to file latest status report and directed SHO Police Station, Nowabad, Jammu to remain present in person on the next date of hearing.
