JAMMU, May 25: Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur has directed the Director Health Services to constitute a medical team to provide health care to the inmates of Vridh Ashram.
The direction was passed in a PIL based on the article about the plight of Jammu Vridh Ashram published in Excelsior on February 26, 2013.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi for the PIL whereas Senior AAG Gagan Basotra and Deputy AG Neeru Goswami for the State, DB observed, “no step has been taken for constituting the team of doctors as was required in terms of earlier order”.
The DB directed Director Health Services Jammu to immediately constitute a team of doctors which shall visit Vridh Ashram to enquire about the health conditions of the inmates and ensure that all requisite medical facilities are made available to them. The DB also directed Director Health Services to file affidavit on next date of hearing.
