BANDIPORA, Dec 15: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, held an interactive meeting with representatives of the Association of Specially-Abled Persons Bandipora. The session focused on understanding the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and exploring collaborative solutions.
During the meeting, members of the Association, led president Nazir Ahmad, presented their concerns, highlighting the need for accessible infrastructure, inclusive policies, and increased awareness in the community.
The association also demanded the construction of ramps in all the Government buildings for easy and safer passage.
In response to the issues raised, the DC assured the Association of prompt redressal of their geniune demands and grievances.
The DC, on the occasion, informed that ramps will be constructed in all the Government. He further said that lifts will be restored in all three blocks of Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to relocate the AMC medical board from the top floor of Block C to the old district hospital for the convenience of the general public, especially for the ease of Specially-Abled Persons.
Pledging to work closely with the association, the DC emphasized the importance of inclusivity in policy-making and community development. The DC emphasized for collaborative efforts to create an environment that caters to the diverse needs of all residents, ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to thrive.
The Association expressed appreciation for the proactive approach of the DC and the administration. President of the Association, Nazir Ahmad, said that the association looks forward to ongoing cooperation to implement practical solutions that positively impact the specially-abled community in Bandipora.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, JD Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, CMO Bandipora besides other concerned.
