DODA, Oct 25: Deputy Commissioner of Doda Harvinder Singh chaired a review meeting here today to assess the Rural Development Department’s (RDD) progress and drive forward its ongoing projects in the district.
Key officials, including ACD Manoj Kumar; ACP Ashraf Haf; BDOs and representatives from multiple development departments, were present to evaluate the impact of major rural initiatives and strategize measures to boost infrastructure, employment, and overall community welfare in the rural areas of the District.
The DC underscored the importance of timely, transparent implementation of schemes like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) to enhance socio-economic standards across villages.
The officials reported on the current status of key RDD projects, including rural roads, water supply, and sanitation facilities. Challenges causing delays were addressed, with DC Singh instructing officials to expedite these projects while upholding transparency and quality. Employment creation under MGNREGA was also a primary focus, with the DC directing ACD Doda to ensure that all job cards are correctly issued and that payments to beneficiaries remain timely. Reviewing PMAY-G housing projects, DC Singh called for prioritizing pending cases and stressed the need for accurate data verification and collaboration with local bodies to avoid delays.
Other discussions centered on strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), with DC Singh promoting training for PRI members to improve local governance and active participation in project planning. Cleanliness and hygiene under SBM were highlighted, and ACP Doda was tasked with organizing village-level awareness campaigns, particularly in ecologically sensitive zones. Emphasizing accountability, DC Singh urged regular field visits by department officials to assess project realities and encourage community feedback through Gram Sabha meetings.

The Deputy Commissioner concluded the meeting by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to rural development and equitable benefits for all eligible residents of Doda. He directed officials to prioritize efficient interdepartmental coordination to streamline project execution and ensure a high standard of performance and integrity across all initiatives. Periodic review meetings, DC Singh assured, will continue to track progress and promptly address emerging challenges, ensuring the successful delivery of RDD programs.
