Leh, Aug 29: District Consultative Committee / District Level Review Committee Meeting of Banks of Leh district was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Leh Tsering Angchok.
The Deputy Commissioner, Leh apprised the meeting in detail about the problems of unemployed youths particularly educated unemployed women and strongly exhorted upon the banks and line departments of Leh district to have close coordination and together generate avenues for easy loans and subsidy schemes to provide them employment opportunities.
Citing the CD ratio of Leh Distt a matter of major concern as it stands at 15.9% which is far below the stipulated average of 60 %, T. Angchuk directed the committee to form a special committee of different departments in order to improve the CD ratio in coming months. He urged upon the bankers to issue more Kissan Credit Cards to the farmers of Leh district as majority of the population of the district is dependent on agriculture and allied activities but at the same time asked to simplify the paper formalities for availing KCC loans.
DC directed Agriculture Deptt, Leh, which is the nodal agency to execute KCC loans to keep a close coordination with banks and Revenue Deptt and assured the meeting that he will issue strict instructions to the Revenue Deptt for smooth issuance of land records to the farmers required for availing KCC loans.
The meeting expressed resentment over the zero performance of J&K State Cooperative Bank and JK Grameen Bank in achieving the target of KCC loans despite their banking services known specially for farmers.
Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Parvinder Bharthi apprised the meeting about the performance of banks in Leh in terms of Deposits/Advances, achievements of Govt. sponsored schemes like JKSES, PMEGP, SGGY, ST/SC, SHG, SCC and SJSRY. He said that the progress under KCC Scheme has been 47% up to 4th quarter under review and the banks are advised to gear-up their efforts to issue more KCCs in order to achieve the targets being allocated to them in the current fiscal.
The meeting was attended by Assistant General Manager, RBI Ravinder Kaul, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Parvinder Bharthi, DDM, NABARD, Amit Lal, Project Director, DRDA, Tsewang Dolma, Kunzes Angmo, Assistant Commissioner Development, Leh, Dr. Zahida Bano, Dy. Director Employment, Heads of the departments including Agriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture, Distt. Industries, Leh, Handicraft, Handloom, bank manager of various banks operating in Leh and BDOs of Leh block.
