JAMMU, Feb 19: Deputy Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh, today inaugurated a two day exhibition on ‘New and Renewable Sources of Energy’ organised by Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Science and Technology Department at Kala Kendra.
This exhibition aims to promote the real world renewable energy applications in Households, Hospitals, Education sector, Hospitality industry and Municipal Corporations in the State. Appliances for the same like Biomass Cook stoves or ‘smokeless chullha’, an economical and healthy alternative for traditional cooking methods, solar street lights, home lighting, cookers, battery chargers, inverter, pump, dryer, Geyser, lantern, television are being put on display during the exhibition.
Also major attractions include applications like steam sterilization of equipment, solar incineration of bio medical waste and waste management facility for municipal waste . It was informed that up to 70% subsidy is being provided on purchase of these products by the JAKEDA to promote the use of new and renewable sources of energy in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Jammu gave thrust on use of renewable devices and highlighted the viability and efficiency of the use of renewable energy. He congratulated JAKEDA for successfully organising the event and expressed hope that the message of this event reaches every household.
Various organisations working in the field of renewable energy equipment including M/s Ravi Engineering, New Delhi demonstrated Biomass Cookstoves, M/s Advance Alternative Technologies demonstrated Solar Water Heating System, M/s Arsh Electronics, New Delhi demonstrated Solar box type cookers, LED Lights, M/s Solux Lighting, Gurgaon demonstrated LED based Lights, M/s Metro Hydro Engineers demonstrated LED based Solar Lights, M/s Surya Shakti, M/s Inter Solar Chandigarh, M/s JK Machines demonstrated SWHs are participating in the exhibition.
During the exhibition a painting competition was also organised on the theme ‘New and Renewable Sources of Energy’ in which students from various educational institutes participated .
Executive Engineer Abdul Majeed Bhat, Deputy Chief Executive officer, Dr. P.R. Dhar, Assistant Director Planning, Harish Kotwal, District Officer Deepak Sharma & Rabia Noor were also present on the occasion.
