KATHUA, May 8: Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, today conducted an extensive tour of the city and took stock of pace of progress on various developmental projects being executed in the district.
During the tour, DC visited sites of Kathua Engineering College and Kendriya Vidyalaya at Janglot and Polytechnic College and inspected the ongoing construction works.
While inspecting works at Janglot, the DC directed the concerned engineers to expedite the work to ensure timely completion.
It was informed that for construction of Engineering College, Rs 6.4 crore have been released, so far, and a total of Rs 26 crore have been earmarked for its completion.
At KV Kathua, DC was informed that construction work on the building is in full swing and will be completed soon. He directed all the concerned officers to remove bottlenecks hindering the pace of these ambitious projects in a judicious manner for its timely completion besides maintaining the quality of works.
While inspecting the construction of Polytechnic College, DC was informed that the construction work of the institute is expected to be completed by 31st May. He directed the Principal, Polytechnic Kathua to start classes from next session in the new building.
The DC directed the concerned officers to plant trees during the ensuing monsoon season besides proper landscaping and developing green patch in and around these buildings.
Executive Engineers of JKPCC, CPWD, PDD, Irrigation, Tehsildar, Principals of Polytechnic and KV were present on the occasion.
