DC Jammu reviews arrangements for Navratri, Dussehra festival

JAMMU, Sept 8: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Avny Lavasa, today convened a meeting of officers of different departments and representatives of religious organisations to review the arrangements for smooth celebration of Navratri and Dussehra festival in the district.
Commissioner JMC Rahul Yadav; ADC L&O, Minga Sherpa; ADC, Satish Sharma; ACR, Piyush Dhotra, besides senior officers from Police, Security, Tourism, Traffic, Jal Shakti, PDD, Health along with representatives from religious organization were present in the meeting.
At the outset, the religious organizations informed the chair regarding certain issues. The representatives demanded adequate provision for sanitation, uninterrupted electricity, ensuring of regular and safe drinking water, security arrangements, traffic management, adequate stocks of ration, check on the rates and quality of food items, repair of street lights, parking, road connectivity, mobile toilets, medical facilities etc.
Regarding cleanliness, the DC asked the Commissioner JMC to maintain cleanliness and also install dustbins and mobile toilets around the temples. The Police authorities were asked to make adequate security arrangements during the festival, while the PHE Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply and Power Department was asked to make proper lighting arrangements in addition to uninterrupted power supply throughout the festival.
