DC Kathua listens people’s issues at Panchayat Londi

KATHUA, Nov 1: Deputy Commissioner, Rakesh Minhas, today presided over a public outreach program at Panchayat Londi in Hiranagar Block held as part of weekly Block Diwas program.
On the occasion, PRIs, social activists and individuals projected the issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same.
The major demands projected were compensation for damaged crops, registration of widow and old age pension cases, supply of Urea DAP for wheat crops, Widening of border roads, removing of encroachments on PWD roads, clearing of land compensation cases, resolving water scarcity in Kandi pockets, demolition of unsafe building of Government Middle School Londi.
Other demands put forth by the public representative also included holding an awareness campaign on marriage assistance schemes, release of funds under Adarsh village programms and Back to Village program, early execution of JJM schemes, etc.
After giving a patient hearing, the DC Kathua assured people that all of their genuine issues will be redressed with the active anticipation of the concerned departments.
Responding to the demand of pacing up the execution of JJM works, the DC informed the gathering that funds to the tune of Rs192 crores have been issued for Hiranagar and Marheen Block to provide tap water connection to every households he further assured that JJM Assets including Dug well, tube well and laying of pipe network shall be completed within given timelines in line with the object of JJM to saturate tap water drinking supply to every household. DC directed the XEN PWD to remove the encroachments on roads taking on-board the revenue department.
Regarding the issue of crop damage, the DC informed that the revenue department and agriculture department have been directed already to make an assessment of the damages so that crop compensation cases shall be processed at the earliest.
On the issue of compensation for land acquisition by BSF and other developmental works, he assured that he will take up the matter with higher authorities. Further, he assured the locals that infra in health care centers will be improved by taking up the issue with the health department.
Regarding the issue of unsafe school building, demolition demand, he asked SDM Hiranagar to carry out the demolition work without any delay.
Earlier, BDC Chairman Ramlal Kalia, DDC Marheen Karan Attri, DDC Hiranagar Abhinandan Sharma, informed the gathering about the development projects undertaken in Marheen and Hiranagar constituencies, further appealed people to avail welfare schemes launched by different departments besides encashing self employment opportunities to become self-reliant.
