CMO Kathua gives update

KATHUA, July 30: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness and control measures to prevent spread of dengue in the district. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Ranjit Singh, Chief Medical Officer Kathua, Dr. Vijay Raina, XEn PWD, XEn Jal Shakti Department, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kathua and other concerned officials.
The CMO Kathua provided a comprehensive update on the Dengue scenario, including the number of positive cases reported over the past year, the volume of samples collected, high-risk areas identified and preparations for a cluster survey. It was noted that each hospital has been allocated two dedicated beds with nets specifically for Dengue patients.
During the review, Minhas emphasized the need for intensified preventive activities, including ensuring the availability of essential blood products, such as platelets, and medications. He highlighted the importance of accurate patient diagnosis and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures for effective treatment.
The DC also laid emphasis on enhancing the sample collection process to ensure timely detection and treatment of Dengue cases. He directed the health officials to ensure availability of testing facilities at each block and Community Health Centre, making it easily accessible to all.
The DC directed CEO MC Kathua to lead efforts in regular cleaning of dumping sites, fogging within municipal limits and strict enforcement in high-risk areas. He stressed the necessity of maintaining clear and unobstructed drainage systems to prevent water logging, which contributes to mosquito breeding.
