REASI, Apr 30: District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal laid foundation stone of residential complex and civic amenities for district officers at Mari Hills.
Residences of Deputy Commissioner, SSP, Addl DDC and are being constructed in Phase-I. Three towers of 12 two-bedroom flats are being constructed for district officers.
The residential complex will also have a recreational park, helipad, and guest house and sports complex. Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) has been assigned the project to be completed at an estimated cost of around Rs 13 crore. Approach road has already been constructed by Rural Development Department.
SSP Vivek Gupta, ACD Joginder Singh Rai, ACR Tilak Raj Sharma, DGM JKPCC Pankaj Sawhney, ExEn Anil Pandoi and Sanjeev Rathore, CPO Gidhari Lal, DTO Arashad Chowdhary, CEO Aashok Sanyal and other senior officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
The DDC informed that district administration has taken the task of construction of residential accommodation for district officers on war footing since there is no official accommodation so far at the district headquarters. He informed that Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Department, has paid special attention for the need of official accommodation and allotted funds for taking up construction as per detailed project report. The residential complexes were also approved by the District Development Board in its meeting held on 17th July 2013.
Due to lack of residential accommodation at district headquarters and shortage of availability of private hired accommodation the district officers have to travel from other places, mostly from Jammu.
Residences of senior officers and district sect oral officers along with civic amenities are being constructed in a phased manner by JKPCC as per the plan formulated by the District Development Commi-ssioner for facilitating the stay of officers and their families at district headquarters.
