DC leads anti-encroachment drive

UDHAMPUR, Mar 27: Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib along with President Municipal Council, Dr Jogeshwar Gupta and CEO MC today conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Udhampur town, including Gole Market area.
During the drive, the DC appealed to all the shopkeepers and persons running their business units in the town to remove encroachments immediately. She emphasized and warned to avoid encroachment in the garb of displaying / goods and articles outside the shops and causing hindrance to pedestrians and creating unnecessary congestion. Free flow for pedestrians should not be hindered, she added.
“If any shopkeeper tries to display goods beyond the shop, he will be booked as per Municipal Act and fine /penal action will be initiated against the violators / defaulters,” she added.
On spot instructions were issued to CEO MC Udhampur to create a rope limit for each shop and complete the exercise within 10 days positively.
The DC also advised the general public to park their vehicles in the parking areas to avoid traffic congestion in the market area in the larger public interest.
