DC Leh reviews law and order

LEH, Feb 12: District Magistrate, Leh, Saugat Biswas today held a meeting with the SSP, Leh to review the general law and order situation in the district and specifically the town. The meeting was conducted in the wake of the recent murder of teenage girl in Leh town.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Leh, Dr. Sunil Gupta; Addl. Supdt of Police Leh, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, and other senior officers.
The District Magistrate reviewed the investigation of the recent murder case. He issued direction to the district police and the SHO in particular to bring the investigation to its logical conclusion in a time bound manner.
Biswas further emphasised the need to sensitize the local population towards signs of illegal activities in the town. The SSP assured the District Magistrate that the district police will take every step to bring the police closer to the people. He informed that the district police will soon launch “Operation Jullay” with an objective of reaching out to the last man of an area and build confidence among the populace. The operation will have various components for finer law and order maintenance in the district. Communication between police and administration will be further enhanced for providing a safe and secure society, he added.
The District Magistrate appealed all the citizens of Leh district to cooperate with the police in their respective areas during the exercise to make Leh better, safe and secure place to stay.
