DC office complex to be handed over to judiciary shortly: AG

JAMMU, May 4: Advocate General D C Raina today assured the Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice B S Walia that existing Deputy Commissioner office complex at Kishtwar will shortly be handed over to judiciary for housing district courts.
The assurance was given in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Bar Association Kishtwar through its President I A Hamal seeking handing over of entire Deputy Commissioner office complex, Kishtwar for use of District Courts Complex.
“The new office complex of the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar is ready and the shifting will take place very soon”, Advocate General said, adding “as soon as shifting takes place, the premises would be handed over to the judiciary”.
Earlier, when the PIL came up for hearing, Advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed with Advocates Irfaan Mohd Khan and Suraj Singh appearing for the petitioner Association submitted that as per the instructions received from the President Bar Association Kishtwar the new Mini Secretariat/Administrative Block for various offices of the State Government including that of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar is ready and the process of shifting has also begun.
Advocate Ahmed further submitted that as a matter of fact May 1, 2016 had been earmarked for the inauguration of the new complex by the Chief Minister but due to her busy schedule the programme was postponed. “In view of the completion of the new building for housing the Deputy Commissioner Office the directions are required to be issued to the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to handover the old building complex to the judiciary so that the District Court Complex is established there”.
The DB on the request of the Advocate General adjourned the matter for week commencing May 16, 2016 and also directed that a copy of the order be provided to the Advocate General under the signatures of the Bench Secretary.
