POONCH, May 6: The Deputy Commissioner Poonch, M H Malik today ordered a probe into the death of mother and infant due to alleged negligence of Medical staff of District Hospital, Poonch.
Official sources said that the DC after the written complaint from the family ordered a probe into the matter and framed three member team, headed by CMO, Poonch.
The family members of the deceased Shaheen Akhtar (27), wife of Police Constable Mohd Ibrahim, resident of Kanethi- Banola alleged that Shaheen had labour pains and was removed to Mendhar hospital on May 2 in the morning. She was referred to District Hospital, Poonch in the same evening at around 8.30 pm. She was operated upon by Dr Shehnaz Bhatti on May 4 at Poonch hospital and she delivered a male baby.
Her condition deteriorated as she was continuously bleeding after surgery. As her condition went on worsening, the hospital staff referred her to GMC, hospital Jammu. But she died on the way near Madana village, hardly 14 kms from Poonch. Her baby also died later.
