DC Poonch reviews measures to curb drug abuse

POONCH, Nov 21: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to discuss the measures to curb the drug abuse in the district.
The DDC asked the Committee members to work in close coordination and put in dedicated efforts to make Poonch a drug free district.
In the meeting, the SSP Poonch, Rohit Baskotra briefed about the measures taken to tighten noose around perpetrators and drug traffickers in the district.
The DC asked the District and Tehsil Level Committee to conduct NCORD meetings on a monthly basis and submit the report. He also asked that at least 20 shops should be checked in a week.
The Drugs Inspector was directed to provide the details of drugs for the last three months and also aske CEO Poonch to conduct IEC activities in schools and also provide the list of such users.
He also exhorted the stakeholder departments to put in collective efforts to eliminate the drug menace which has deeply penetrated into the society.
He also stressed upon all members to launch a massive awareness campaign across the length and breadth of the district to educate the masses about the ill effects of drugs on health.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohit Baskotra; Additional District Development Commissioner, Abdul Sattar; ACR, Dr Tanveer Ahmed Khan; Divisional Forest Officer (T), Bashrat Husaain and other officers attended the meeting.
