RAJOURI, July 30: Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal today inaugurated Eklavya Model Residential School here at Gurdhan Balla.
Officers present on the occasion were ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ACR, Imran Raid Kataria; CPO, Mohammad Khurid; SDM Thanamandi, Vikas Dhar; CEO Education, aila Kumari; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; students and their parents.
It was informed that as many as sixty tribal students have been enrolled in the EMRs for the first session and they will be provided proper boarding and lodging facilities.
Pertinently, Tribal Welfare Department, under the overall guidance of Secretary Tribal Affairs, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, is working tirelessly for the welfare of the tribal community. It is because of these efforts that two EMRs have been sanctioned in the district, the proposal for three more EMRs also stands submitted and the land for these newly proposed EMRs campuses has also been identified.
Scores of initiatives for ensuring quality education to the tribal students including opening of new Gujjar and Bakerwall hostels, transit accommodations, modernization of schools in tribal areas and many others have been launched.
Speaking at the event, the DC said that Eklavya Model Residential school is an ambitious initiative of the Government of India to facilitate the tribal students to get quality education and to enable them to compete with the students of the rest of the country. He directed the concerned officers to work with dedication and added zeal to impart quality education to the tribal students.
