DC Rajouri reviews functioning of ICDS Deptt

RAJOURI, Nov 4: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal conducted a comprehensive review of the working of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Department, here today.
The meeting shed light on the remarkable efforts of the department in the region, focusing on the implementation of different schemes aimed at nurturing maternal and child health.
During the meeting, it was informed that there are 07 ICDS projects in the District, which collectively oversee the operation of 1672 Anganwadi centers. In particular, the discussion included an update on the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) scheme, revealing that 3373 beneficiaries have already been registered. This initiative plays a crucial role in supporting expectant and lactating mothers, offering them financial assistance and ensuring their overall well-being.
The discussion delved into the utilization of the Poshan Tracker App, which provides real-time insights into the status of Anganwadi centers. Furthermore, the review included the status of linking these centers with nearby government schools, with an encouraging announcement that 303 Anganwadi centers have been successfully relocated to the vicinity of schools.
In terms of infrastructure development, the meeting was informed that out of 110 sanctioned buildings for Anganwadi centers, 30 have been completed, and 64 are currently in progress. This commitment to improving facilities for early childhood development is a testament to the dedication of the government to the future generation.
In alignment with the nationwide ‘Poshan Maah’ campaign for September 2023, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal also took stock of the various activities organized in the district to promote nutrition and overall child development. This comprehensive approach towards child welfare showcases the commitment of the administration to creating a bright and healthy future for its youngest residents.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers and officials present to continue working with unwavering determination to ensure the effective implementation of these essential schemes.
The meeting was attended by Shoket Mehmood Malik, District Program Officer ICDS, Abdul Rahim, District Social Welfare Officer, and Child Development Project Officers and other officials of the ICDS Department.
