DC Rajouri reviews status of development works

RAJOURI, May 22: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today exhorted upon the executing agencies to strictly adhere to quality specifications and timelines while executing development works in the district.
Conveying seriousness of the Government to complete infrastructural development projects within fixed timeframe, the DDC said lackadaisical approach on part of any officers leading to delays will not be tolerated and the erring would have to face the music.
The DDC reviewed the status of development works being executed by JKPCC, PWD, PMGSY, PDD, PHE, I&FC, Ground Water, Health, Education and ULBs besides works being done under District Plan, State Plan, CSS, PMDP etc. came up for discussion. Besides, bottlenecks hindering timely execution of projects were also deliberated upon in detail and remedial measures were worked out for implementation.
Dr. Shahid cautioned several officers for delay in development works due to certain issues like land acquisition, encroachments, litigation, lack of inter-departmental coordination and tendering. Referring to relevant judgment of apex court, he directed for immediate removal of illegal structures.
The DDC emphasized on greater coordination between PMGSY, Revenue and Forest authorities to overcome the issues of land acquisition and forest clearances. He also asked the senior officers of PDD, EM&RE and PHE for putting in place effective mechanism for greater coordination at different levels to arrest unscheduled power cuts and issues of water supply.
He instructed the district officers to vigorously pursue court cases so that held up works are completed in time. He also asked the field officers to regularly monitor ongoing works and bring to the notice of higher authorities issues hindering speedy execution of works.
The DDC assessed the status of various roads being constructed by PWD, PMGSY, water supply schemes, bridges, medical college Rajouri, city and town roads, SSA buildings and girls’ hostels.
Dr. Shahid also asked the officers to take requisite steps to arrest absenteeism in Government offices so that people donot suffer on this account.
