DC Ramban assures assistance to fire victims

Ramban, Feb 27: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today visited Gandhri block of district Ramban where five shops and a dhaba, besides car and two motorcycles parked nearby were gutted in a fire incident which occurred late last night.
Immediately after reaching Gandhri, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the site of the incident where he directed Tehsildar, Ramban to submit immediately a loss assessment report so that their relief case can be processed as per norms. He assured the victims of the fire of help through the Red Cross Fund.
While taking note of the demand for an additional fire tender, the DC said that the cause of fire and the extent of damage are being ascertained by the police. DC said he will make an assessment of the requirement of additional dire tenders and submit a report along with recommendations in this regard.
The Deputy Commissioner held brief interaction with public representatives of the area and took first hand review of the demands of the people which include improvement in condition of Kanga-Gandhi-Bathi road, creation if tourist facilities in the picturesque area, filling of vacant posts in GHHS Gandhri and OHC Bharti, high density apple and fruit stock, rejuvenation of hand pumps, laying of new pavement tiles and plantation drive by the Forest Division Batote. They also raised the demand for a JKRTC bus service in the area to facilitate the residents.
Later, DDC Chairperson, Ramban, Dr.Shamshad Shan, also visited Gandhri and interacted with the fire victims and consoled them besides taking stock of the situation.
