DC reviews arrangements for Navratra Festival

JAMMU, Sept 24: To discuss the arrangements for ensuing Navratra festival commencing from October 5, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu convened a meeting of senior officers and members of Navratra Festival Celebration Committee, here today.
The meeting was informed that Tourism Department is making special arrangements for the upcoming festivals of Navratra and Dussehra to attract the pilgrim tourists from across the country.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the JMC to ensure sanitation in and around the temples, while PHE Department was asked to make adequate water supply at the main venues for the convenience of the devotees.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed Power Department to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to un-interrupted power supply to all the temples in Jammu city through out the Navratra festival.
He enjoined upon the concerned departments to make available adequate medical facilities, proper security and traffic regulation arrangements. He also stressed for making provisions for extra transportation for the convenience of the people during the festival days.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the festival the rich heritage of Jammu region would be showcased and all the steps are being taken by the administration and the organizers to make the event a grand success.
He stressed upon various agencies involved in Navratra Festival arrangements to work in close coordination for the successful conduct of the celebration.
Later, the  Deputy Commissioner also held threadbare discussion on  the arrangements  for Dusshera and Mahanavami festivals with the officers and other concerned agencies. He also discussed the arrangements for taking out of Chhari Yatra procession of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji on October 5. Deputy Commissioner emphasized for making necessary arrangements for the Chhari Yatra as per traditional gaiety and fervor.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Jammu Atul Goel, ADC Jammu Kalyan Singh Parihar, ACG Jammu Shahnaz Choudhary, ACR Jammu Sher Singh, RTO Jammu Arvind Kotwal, GM SRTC R. S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner JMC Kapil Sharma, DHO Jammu Dr. Danish Khan, XEn ED-I A K Chibber, SP Security Ashok Singh Sambyal, XEn PHE City-I J K Sharma, AEE Sanjeev Gupta, other senior officers of concerned departments besides representatives of Dussehra Committee, Dharmarth Trust, S.D. Sabha, Shiv Sena, various religious and other Organizations.
