Doda, May 9 : To review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual Grameen-cum-Tourism Mela at scenic and lush green tourist destination of Lal Draman Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Khan today convened a meeting of the District and Sectoral Officers.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Khan said that the objective behind organizing Grameen Mela at Lal Draman is to explore the hidden tourism potential and boost the tourism activity in the region. He said these Melas also help in creating awareness among the people about the various State and Centrally sponsored schemes of various line departments.
It was revealed in the meeting that all line departments dealing in employment generating activities will install stalls at the venue and apprise the people about their schemes. It was also decided that a cultural programme will be presented by the school children on the occasion for which a cultural committee was constituted. To supervise the arrangements of the mela a supervisory committee under ADDC Doda was also constituted.
Various sports and cultural activities will also be organized during the mela which include Rural Sports, horse riding competition, wrestling, tug of war and race besides folk dance, folk songs will be the other main attractions of the Mela.
DDC enjoined upon the officers to put in place all the arrangements well in advance for the smooth and successful conduct of the Mela.
