DC reviews cable network digitization

JAMMU, July 30: To monitor the progress on issues related to digitization of cable transmission, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh convened a meeting and reviewed the status of digitization of cable transmission, monitoring of rates of set top boxes and monthly rents in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the digitization of television cable network in Jammu district would be pursued with all seriousness and under a definite action plan. He stressed for cent percent switching over of analogue cable distribution to the digital system.
He asked the Local Cable Operators (LCOs) and Multi System Operator (MSO) to ensure cent percent digitalization of cable transmission by December 31 this year. He also directed LCOs to train their linemen so that better service would be provided to the consumers and awareness regarding the digitalization would be generated.
He also directed MSOs and LCOs for proper disposal of complaints about the content, quality, distribution and pricing of cable networks.
Other issues discussed included, regularizing the activities of illegal cable operators, implementation of measures required to be taken by Multi System Operators (MSO) and Local Cable Operators (LCOs) and physical verification report in respect of cable operators.
