LEH, May 3: In response to High Court directions on a PIL regarding the LPG issue, the Deputy Commissioner Leh Simrandeep Singh convened a meeting with representatives of all gas agencies operating in Leh today.
Others who attended the meeting were SP Vivak Gupta, ACD Mozis Kunzang, ACR Tashi Dolma, AD CAPD Sherab Gyaltson, Tehsilder HQ DC Office Johar Ali and mangers of New Gas Service (HP), Druk Gas Agency (IOC) and Ladakh Gas Service (IOC).
DC while briefing on important points of the J&K High Court’s orders, made a detail assessment about latest position of availability, supply and distribution of LPG cylinders in entire Leh district. In order to make the LPG services more accountable, DC directed AD CAPD to form a committee which will visit entire Leh district to collect detailed information about the availability, supply and distribution of LPG Cylinders in the district. He also directed ACD to activate the Gram Sabhas, Sarpanchs, Panchs, VLWs and MPWs on the importance and court orders regarding LPG issue who in turn would educate and aware general public on it. To keep a check on black marketing of cylinders as per the orders of court, DC directed SSP, Leh, ACR, Leh and ADC, Leh to do a weekly inspection of sweet shops, restaurants, tea stalls and hotels and report to him accordingly.
SSP Leh ensured that police personal would make queries about LPG cylinder issues in every civil society meetings taking place in the district.
The meeting also discussed about Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitaran Yojana (RGGLVY) under which the LPG distribution agencies are expected to be opened at Khaltsi, Nubra, Nyoma and Kharu blocks soon.
